Contemporary Health Facilities are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with the provision of services that expand beyond treatment, into community health support and education; with the success of the later reducing demands on the former. The future of Seymour Health campus will be in its outreach support and education programs as much as its in-patient activities. The existing hospital and aged care facilities will need to adapt in the next decade, in order to support and help shape these changes.
EBD developed a cohesive masterplan from a series of separate, but essential, studies that will prepare the current Seymour Health Campus for an evolving but predictable set of future demands.
Stage 01 proposes the modification of existing aged care units and the construction of an additional 10 bed unit for people living with dementia. In Stage 02 of the Masterplan, it is proposed to develop a new Integrated Primary Care Centre. The new facility would continue toaccommodate aboriginal health services but would also be available to the broader community.
In addition to the provision of consulting suites, office and meeting rooms, the primary aim of this new centre would be to encourage better community health through education and engagement, tackling a range of issues such as diet, exercise, drugs, alcohol and psychological wellbeing. In addition, affected members of the community could learn more about, and prepare for, conditions such as dementia, diabetes, etc., while continuing to live in their own homes.
